Minority and women owned businesses
must play an increasingly more integral role in regional and national
economic development efforts if desired outcomes such as global
competitiveness, employment growth, income equality and wealth
creation are to be realized. Thunderbolt Ventures’s commitment to this
emerging market will be evidenced in part by the fact that 5 of its
initial 20 investments, or 25 percent, will consist of minority and
women owned businesses. Moreover, Thunderbolt Ventures will also
dedicate hours of technical assistance to this growing business
segment. Thunderbolt Ventures will build on these successes going
forward and pursue a comprehensive strategy around economic inclusion
which broadly aims to achieve the following:
- Facilitate
opportunities to network and further connect minority and women
entrepreneurs with available resources
- Enhance
minority and female representation among all stakeholders of
entrepreneurship including entrepreneurs, executives/managers,
investors and venture funds, subject matter experts,
directors/advisors, and service providers
- Celebrate
successes and showcase high potential and venture-backed minority
and women owned businesses
- Partner
with local, regional, and national organizations with similar
missions
In addition to capturing
immediate opportunities from the above referenced initiatives,
Thunderbolt Ventures will pursue a concurrent strategy aimed at
developing and nurturing a pipeline of stakeholders for growth and
sustainability.
